Black Hole or Donation?

Last month I reported that Hal Turner was going off-line. Well, he decided to change his mind, and he will be staying on-line. In case you didn't know, Hal Turner is a host of a controversial show – some of you may consider it racist.

Judge yourself:
The Hal Turner Show
The Hal Blog

I am not interested as to why he has decided to stay on-line, whether or not he is a racist. My problem started on March 2007, He told everyone on air that the show is being run on a Microsoft Windows 2000. Now, one of the reason why Hal briefly quited was due DOS attack on his web site & computers – most of them are running six or seven years old Operating Systems.

At the moment he is asking for donation, and I am not sure how I feel about this. What I do know that old Microsoft's obsolete OSes have more bugs than Mississippi river. It would be like throwing hard earn money into a black hole.

controversial is the wrong word, try bigoted.

Link to criminal-provocation disassociated
Koerner boosts being clean and lawful

Skinheads have removed an interview from their website with man who had called for killing a woman, whose family was subsequently killed. Skinheads had published an article entitled The Hal Turner Interview, with a former New-Jersey real-estate agent, who had professed that Skinheads should "impress people as being clean-cut and credible" by avoiding tattoos. The point was widely-quoted in 2002, as Skinheads were establishing their presence on the Internet. Three years later, however, it came to light that Turner had published an appeal that Judge Joan Lefkow was "worthy of being killed." After her husband and mother were killed, Turner posted an appeal for "white" people to conceal or destroy evidence. Skinheads yanked the interview on the grounds that Turner was too-unstable and conspiratorial.

Turner had a checkered career, which, at first, had seemed largely eccentric. However, Turner developed his associations with notoriously lawless elements and, eventually, stepped over into criminal-advocacy. Turner began with a website, which lambasted Negroes as "savages" and homosexuals as "perverts." In his Skinhead interview, he cautioned "get rid of the tattoos" and stated that he was "moving closer" to rightists. However, when opponents announced plans to picket his residence, he posted an appeal for supporters to show up with weapons and engage in "sniping." As his language, increasingly, became incendiary, Turner allied himself with the late William L. Pierce, whose disciples had been jailed for murder and bomb-making, displaying Pierce's insignia on his website.

Deigning to give legal-advice

After Pierce's death, Turner journeyed to ally himself with Richard Butler, whose followers had been jailed for weapons' violations and murder and who had, himself, been bankrupted for conspiracy. Turner, then, announced that he was quitting the Internet, only to return with his familiar diatribes, describing himself as a "white-supremacist." Turner, particularly, deigned to advise his viewers that he, not the authorities, understood the law, even though he had no lawyer. He referred repeatedly to "us" and "we" in speaking of those under suspicion in the killings, apparently unaware that condoning a killing, after the fact, could be considered complicity. David Holland had been found guilty of claiming that he was "glad" that Negroes had been attacked, after the fact. The same scenario played out for Tom Metzger and Alex Curtis.

Skinheads not only removed the Turner interview, but the photograph of Turner, which had accompanied the article. They, also, called attention to their extensive postings warning against "conspiracies" and law-violations. Skinhead Daniel Koerner emphasized that "I really like how the Skinhead oraganization is run. Very wisely run. It is such a great idea to keep ourselves clean from the lawlessness that some provoke and seek." Matt Hale, who was convicted of soliciting Lefkow's murder, had announced on his website, just before his arrest, that his followers should not obey the law. One of his disciples went on a murder-spree and others are suspects in the latest killings. Hale had denounced Skinheads who obey the law as "psychos" and "on drugs."

Subject: [Alerts] Why I stopped my radio show

Quite a number of you have written asking why I am pulling the plug on my radio show. There has been wild speculation about threats, lawsuits etc. . . . .none of those things are true.

The answer is two fold:

First, I began the program in July of last year. The airtime cost was $50 per hour, but the studio cost $125 per hour. Travel to and from the studio with gas tolls, etc., came to about another $25 a week. That's $200 a week out of my personal money, every week for Ten (10) months -- about $8,000. in total. On top of that is the relatively minor cost for the web site.

During the last 10 months, I worked to generate ad revenue for the program. The simple truth is that while the majority of potential sponsors privately agreed with many of my positions, they were terrified of being affiliated with a program where such views would actually be spoken. Hence, they would not buy ads on my show.

I did have a couple one-shot ads and I did earn money from selling software off my web site. But these revenues were not sufficient to pay the costs.

Further, the web site took a lot of time and effort. Those updates meant scanning dozens of news sources around the world every day, finding things that I felt would be of interest, then re-working the page several times a day to show such updates. This was time and effort better spent doing something else.

But the thing that REALLY got to me was the second reason: The China Boycott. I was certain that listeners to my program were true American Patriots who would stand up and fight. I truly believed that many of you see, as I see, China is a major and dangerous enemy against whom we will have war in the next few years. I thought my listeners understood we cannot continue bank-rolling the Chinese Government so they can use the money to modernize the weapons they'll be using on us.

To that end, I had several thousand 11" x 17" plain black and white pole signs printed up which read 'BOYCOTT CHINESE GOODS" and offered them in batches of 50 for $10 with the hope they would begin springing up on the highways and byways all over the country.

I mentioned this on my show for two weeks, and it has been on my web site everyday for two weeks. Now, my web site gets around 5,000 "hits" a day. I don't know how many listeners tune-in to the live raido show, but I do know that at least 1,000 listen to each weeks show on realaudio. With all those hits and all my listeners, do you know how many of my fellow American Patriots thought enough of their country to get involved with the China Boycott? ZERO. None. And that's when it hit me; this whole effort on my part was a joke. The radio show, the web site. . . .a sad, pathetic joke --- and all at my expense.

Sure, people liked calling-in and venting on the air. Sure, people liked hearing me speak bluntly, without varnish or political correctness. But it was all for amusement. When it came time to actually _DO_ something, .even something as simple and righteous as Boycotting a military enemy or stapling a couple dozen signs on telephone poles, no one was to be found.

I had hoped the show would grow to at least pay for itself. If it had, then it would be easier to continue it, even knowing it was just amusement for those listening. But I'm not a wealthy man and I cannot and will not bear the brunt of paying for the amusement of others. Thus, I am cancelling the show.

Take care,
Hal Turner
